I have a Scarlet-W with a V-Lock expander. I've gotten the camera to trigger recording using Fool Control (from every iOS device imaginable) and I have a RTMotion Latitude (sidekick) system that works great too.

But I have a Wooden Camera wood handle trigger box combo that's not working. My camera has the latest firmware. Since my expander has a contact closure style circuit, and I couldn't find a clean 3 pin fischer (WC side) cable to 4 pin lemo (Red side) without extra power cables/adapter cables/breakout cables, etc. I had Media Blackout make one for me. That didn't work. So I talked with them, and they suggested maybe it did need power, and kindly adjusted the cable, but that didn't do the trick. I'm starting to think maybe these things just don't go together. Wooden Camera's trigger box cable has a power connector, which is the whole reason I didn't want to go with that one. It seemed like an extra cable dangling off that I don't need.

The weird thing is that when I unplug the cable, the camera starts recording, and when I plug the cable back in it stops.

So I'm wondering if anyone out there with a DSMC2 system has a simple trigger that works. What is is it and how did you set it up? What are the camera settings you're using? Anyone else having these problems? I'm hoping it's something dumb like the wrong camera settings.

Gabrielle,

I have just made a cable like you are needing for my Weapon. I am using the V-lock expander too. I had the same problem as you with triggering the camera once I plugged the cable in. Once I doubled checked the pin out on the red website of that 4 pin lemo I realized my stupid mistake . I had soldered the wrong connectors. I had soldered the lemo male as if it were the plug side. I would double check to make certain the correct pins are soldered on the 4 pin lemo. Cable is now working as it is supposed. My cable is for a old Aaton handgrip and as such only has 2 pins on that end.

Hope that helps

my RC trigger (sync port) works well on the old DSMC brains but not on the DSMC2 brain (scarlet-w), different protocol?
