Just curious if anyone has tested some and likes the results - I have Canon glass with 77mm fronts and other lenses that have step-ups to 77mm.

I was in the same boat a few months back. I compared a bunch side by side, basically, from best to worst in my opinion:

1. Hoya Pro1 digital ND : the best, multicoated, truly color neutral, very thin
2. Hoya Solas IRND: no multicoating, truly color neutral, ridiculously thick
3. Hoya ProND: no multicoating, easy to smudge metallic coating, truly color neutral, thick
4. Tiffen WW IRND: no multicoating, green color cast, very thin, QC problems on some ( anodization was coming off, glass was smudged by the offgassing of the nylon pouch it came in)

Needless to say I went with #1 and never looked back.

Fantastic! I will look into those then! Did you by chance also test variable NDs?

Hi Pascal,
About to purchase some of the Hoya Pro1 digital ND filters. Do you still like them and are they performing well?
I purchased a set of the Tiffen WW IRND a couple months ago and have only recently noticed the green cast - hoping the Hoya's perform better...

Screw On Hoya is really good. No color cast.

I have a few Tiffen screw ons and they have a green cast.

Variable ND, I've tried at least 10 and own the Light Craft, Heliopan and Genus Eclipse. Genus Eclipse is considerably better than the Heliopan. No green cast and Heliopan introduces a bit of moire. I only use VND when I absolutely have to as traditional NDs have less image issues.

Screw on NDs, use the XUME magnetic system. It's so fast. I love it.

I was actually just about to ask if people have had luck with xume.

Gene, have you found them to be secure with a couple nd's stacked?

It's surprisingly secure. I don't stack NDs, just have a different XUME ring for each filter. I would not recommend stacking XUME as the extra ring will increase vignetting. I will add at 6K APS-C FOV on Epic-W, no XUME vigentting at 11mm on Tokina 11-16.
