  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Recomended monitors? 107% av adobe RGB good bad?

I am about to buy new monitor and there are many more wide color gamut monitors than there were a year ago. Question is, is Final Cut Pro suite color managed? Is CS5 premiere and after effects color managed?

I use Premiere Pro so I can't speak to Final Cut. I believe most if not all of CS5 is color-managed, including PPro, AE and of course Photoshop. The After Effects link below directly references this under the header, "High-fidelity color."

Regarding monitors, I am currently using a Dell U2711 and a NEC PA 271W in my workflow. These are 27-inch IPS panels in the sub-$1,500 range, meaning they're decent but not top-of-the-line. They fit my budget and needs for the moment, however.

The NEC is brand new. I plan to calibrate it this weekend.

I'm not an expert by any means. I'm still figuring this out. I picked up a link to a CG artist's blog a few months back, maybe here at RedUser, maybe somewhere else. It's a year old, but I found it very informative.

Good luck.

Mark, how have you liked your U2711 up to this point? How does it compare to the NEC? I currently have the a single monitor setup using the U2711, and to me it seems like a good "dual" monitor option if you don't have the cash for two monitors (using the auto resize feature in Windows 7). The resolution can be hard to work with for many programs, but Premiere Pro seems to work fine, especially with the 16:9 ratio.

I also found that article very helpful, although there were still some things I'm still confused about.

Also, I was under the impression Premiere was NOT color managed. Is this true?
