  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

D'Arcy... I'm personally pretty proud of the fact that Peter Jackson was the very 1st person to shoot RED (Boris and Natasha). Even more proud that he is still shooting RED today for a variety of projects and in a multitude of ways. Are you trying to take my fun away? What exactly do you have against PJ, RED or me? Just curious...

C. Not having RED viewfinder pictures done by someone else when on an epic Movie.

Can we please not get into personal jibes. I cant believe a discussion is about to take place about directors and beards.
Jim just posted these pictures cause he is, and rightly so, proud of his camera. Please lets not read too much into this and create pages of silly; my opinion is better than yours.
People have their own reasons for their opinions, and sometimes frankly; as we all know they can hold the most illogical points of view.
To be honest I am more interested in what I can do with the Red camera and how I can use it to produce our new tv pilot to worry about what other people are doing or saying.

That's right, I agree...

But on the other hand, two of these photos from Jim was 3D rigs...
It would be a logical step for PJ to the next level, if you consider what he's achieved so far in technical and visual quality and VFX in his films.

You have no way of knowing that. 2 cameras doesn't automatically mean stereo. It means 2 cameras. And by the amount of toe in on the rig, it's more likely that it was being set up for shooting multipanel stitched frames, just as the 3 cameras were obviously set up to do.

I agree...definitely the rig on the helicopter...it seems just too much for 3D...

Hahaha...who in the fuck cares, Jim. No one can hold a candle to you, and I have had the pleasure of knowing and meeting some luminaries. Besides, personally, I think he's just joking. I could be wrong though, God knows how frequently that is.

Seems reasonable to me as well. Plus, to have that much room between cameras in 3D, they usually have to be really long lenses, much longer than the primes shown on them.
