  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Recap January 22, 2011...

The fun fact is that while I'm a cinema student to become movie editor, I might be in the position to choose which camera will be used to shoot a TV Series later this year. The goal is to have the better quality for the less price. I will be the... I don't know how to call it but I would be the "digital camera manager" or something on the shoot.
So first of I was thinking that because the previous seasons were shot on F900 which is 2/3" and because it's only intended for TV and am not sure we will have enough computer ressources for RAW editing, I was going for SRW9000 or stay with the F900. Then I was thinking maybe the director will like the option of having a larger sensor for creatuve purposes and then I was going with the F3 with an external recorder.

But finally, now, seeing those dates, I think I'll push the production to rent either an Epic of any kind or a Scarlet (if the director want's to stay with easier deep focus) and try to get a Red Rocket and enought storage for the footage.
I mean... What the f**k, let's go RAW !

Anyway, 2011 will surely be a nice year for us camera geek and cinematographers !:emote_hippie:

I've been on the forums for about a month and have very much enjoyed myself. You guys just know how to do business, plain and simple. Can't wait for Epic/Scarlet/NAB Surprise/Big Budget Shot on RED (My guess is the next Bond movie)!

We have done several side by side shootouts with the competition for all these features. They brought a knife to a gun fight. :-)

Jim

It makes me so happy to know that you won in side-by-sides. You might just have redefined the idea of "putting your money where your mouth is."

2011 will really be an exciting year!

awesome! can't wait to cuddle with my new toys... thanks RED

Exciting times. :)

Any chance those of us who are Stage 2 can know our serial number as well as when we might expect shipment? I can't wait to get my hands on this camera!

Does "Un-named biggie #3", know that he is #3 and that, "Un-named biggie #1" is #1
Maybe we should speak of them as, "And three more biggies ... all equal in Red's eyes".

"EPIC-S ships as soon as we take care of EPIC-M and EPIC-X customers."

Does that mean you cleared the whole backlog of EPIC-M and EPIC-X? :O that took you almost two years with RED One :( No really really rough timeframe?!?! (before July/October/January2012?)

"Deliveries of EPIC-X to all existing customers by summer 2011."

Jim

Jim

You're a glutton for punishment, Jim.

God bless ya!

I'd like to know some rental prices on Epic in Europe. I may need 3 later this year, that's if I can see some footage beforehand. ;)

PM me in confidence if anyone has any info on rental.

i will order SSDs and redstations now, will be a huge demand for them and want them ready with Epic.

and...will have my first baby by summer, would be cool to capture my babys first day with epic.
definitly an epic year for me

""""REDray Pro ships April 2011.""""

you just kinda snuck that one in there, didn't you?

and here, I thought that shipping RED RAY was going to be the surprise. You have my attention now!

it would also be interesting to start a thread will all of the indie productions waiting in the wings. I have a biggie, for my market, shooting in May-June.

It will be shot on one EPIC and either MXed RED or a second EPIC. It's gonna be a close call. It has an integrated 3D component, so either 2 MXed RED or 2 EPICs for the 3D segment.

It may not be Hollywood, but it will be one of the biggest productions to originate in our local market.

And...it's gonna be fun!

Thanks, Jim and RED...a most interesting year lies ahead. You have dropped a most interesting pebble (boulder) in the pool. Let's watch the ripples spread!

Speculation mode on, hold your hard hats!

And with the RedRay will come the surprise that (insert cinema chain here) has agreed to screen (insert movie her) exclusively in 4k from RedRay....
