My biggest battle with funding the next project is because I essentially did Kisses and Caroms all alone. I didn't have investors to impress with repayment, or a slew of other craftsman to see first hand that I was a stand up guy and worth re-investment. For all anybody knew, I was a dictating ass of a scrooge who bullied the movie into existence, and who wants to work with that? But it's a surprise to know you got a $10,000 movie to gross 1 million...and your next flick funding is still a struggle. Aren't there people out there who will get you $500,000 budget.
Networking is everything in this biz, and without it, it makes it hard to get the next project off the ground.
In truth, I'm hoping the book helps raise awareness of what I'm capable of and that I'm a good guy who's worth the investment.
OR that it brings in bucket loads of cash so I can be a dictating ass of a scrooge who bullies the next movie into existence. ;-)
Music to me ears. Good luck and keep me updated. Then, reading this book, made me realize that I CAN do it! I can get this done!
I'm right at the production phase now and am invigorated with new found hope.
When the smoke clears there's boobs and a few jokes to see/hear.I rented Kisses and Caroms from Netflix too. No review on that yet as I can't get past the first 5 minutes without getting sleepy for some reason...rogar-Smoke(DBG):
No, but we shot Box of Shadows with it. http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=33772 Kisses and Caroms was shot with 2 Animorphic lensed DVX100's.Vince, do you own a RED? Perhaps that's in the book, which I hope to check out.
Cool. You can also stream it free through NetFlix's watch now. Also, will add your film to my Netflix que.
I was always a happy guy before, and still am today. Life has been very fortunate to me and I'm grateful, but in the midst of distribution hell, things changed. I now know better of what to expect and hopefully the book will help prepare others to keep their depression at bay.Congrats on a number of levels, the book, the movie deal, and surviving depression (hopefully beating it for good).
