Real names

Not sure how anyone can tell if you're using your real name or not - does it just have to look like a real name? Say, I could register as 'John P. Jones' or 'Bob Plant' and it'd be OK, just so long as I don't call myself 'Zepman' or something?

When will filmmakers's gang's true identity be revealed? :detective2: :ninja: :shiftyph34r:

I think they tried already but couldn't get the whole gang's names on there without taking up a whole page.:)

OK, I have some question. I don't necessarily agree with the names policy but thats outta my control.

So, what if someone who is adamant not to change their name decided they no longer wish to be a part of REDuser due to the names policy. What will happen with their posts and threads started by them once the names policy takes effect?

Will those threads be allowed to stay on the boards even though they are shown to be started by an alias?

What if people decided that they wanted no trace of themselves on REDUser once the names policy takes hold and therefore asked for all traces of their involvement to be erased? Would that request be granted?

Just curious.

Cheers,
Mark.

Jarred,

If anyone had any doubt about the value of posters using their real names, the "December 3rd Responses" thread should convince them.

Since it appears that a large number of people have chosen to hide behind their pseudonyms like scared little babies, might I suggest you implement some way for us to filter out conversations from those people?

I know you are limited to what vbulletin is coded for, but what if you gave all of the RealName™ members a specific title and let us filter based on that?

now seriously.. we are more than one or two posters actually.. you should think in cases such as colective accounts.. some soul.. posting through gangs.. will be lost..

edit
it's not only our case (surprise) we know many others.

i think your a bit of a crackhead FMG battery.. but i don't know who you really are so it doesn't really matter does it?

or does it?

At any rate.. Im happy from the support from the majority of users that welcome the new policy.. the rejection from a handful of you is disappointing.. but I have learned over the last year that some people just need to bitch about something.. anything.

Just like I have the choice to make the rules, you all have the choice not to visit.

dropping in to add...

Don't freak out if your name hasn't been changed yet. I'm still getting a lot of requests, and haven't sat back down to go through them all. I've gotten another hundred or so the last few days that I haven't dealt with yet. I'll get to ya'... no worries...

If you have put in your request, you are all good. If you have not, yet... go ahead and do so... The voluntary period is drawing to a close.

later,
Jason
