Excuse my ignorance regarding this matter (and so many more)... Is it possible to rename the red files before opening them in Redcine or Redalert? Is there any specific reference based on filename that would cause issue? Is the relationship between the Quicktime proxy and the .R3D base on filename?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Nick.

The relationship between QT reference movie and R3D file(s) is indeed based on filename. I would advice to leave those file names as they are and focus on the folder name (which should be considered a clip since everything in it belongs together).

Thanks for the quick response. If I just change the folder name, can Redcine or Redalert rebuild my folder structure for my newly converted files?

Nick.

Just had a project come across my desk with all the R3D files in a single directory. Ready to kill the DIT. Anyone ever figure out a safe way to undo this? I've been looking at R3D data manager.

I've killed a few "DIT"s my own self, because of this.

However, I've found Clipfinder's "Make RDC directories" command to be awesome for automatically moving the R3Ds into their own RDC folders.
