I'm betting there's a lot of newcomers to this forum, like myself. Editors tired of staring at the Apple Wall. I'm delving into editing RED on Premiere Pro, and I can say, so far it's incredible. Wish I had dived in 6 months ago. No more rediculous offliine renders, XML jockying, conforming. And the image quality is ASTOUNDING.

One thing. If we could edit in PP, export and xml or timeline to RCX, grade footage and then reload all the RMD's in one step.. The RED workflow would finally be complete. Does anyone know if this will happen anytime soon?

It works now.

1 - Cut your edit.
2 - Export EDL of timeline
3 - Import EDL in RCX
4 - Do your grades with "Generate RMD Automatically"
5 - Go back to PP, search for all clips in all bins with ".R3D"
6 - Select all, right-click, view source (? Whatever its called - the RAW data window)
7 - ReLoad from RMD

I f*cking love it.

RMD Directory Not Getting Referenced

RMD Directory Not Getting Referenced

Has anyone had any issues with Premiere not reloading RMD's correctly? We originally had the files on G-raids while we were in the field. Then we migrated over to our desktop G-Speeds. Now for some reason when I create looks in RCX they do not translate over to Premiere. I have tried re-importing the files into Premiere, but this still doesn't work. Thanks for the help

I haven't had issues but you could try exporting your session as an FCP XML, making a new session and re-importing before trying to relink RMD files. If something is hanging it up that might clear it out. The FCP XML has been pretty rock solid as of CS5.5 for me.

Hi Michael,

Are you able to update all the RMD with only a few click or do you have to select each R3D and make the "reload rmd" individually ?
I can't do it for all the clips. The RMD applied to all is the same for all the clips.

I just tried this too Olivier and experienced the same situation. If you select all the R3D's and right click on one and go to the source settings, it applies that clips RMD to all of the clips selected. I can't seem to work out a way to update them all with their own RMD's in a few clicks.

Could you fill us in Michael?

In my experience this only works on a clip by clip basis. Would be nice if we had a "send to RCX" right-click option, like we do for After Effects.

I tried to de-linck, relinck. I tried export/import EDL and xml from premier : no way. Then I tried to make a "search .R3D", then I can do a "select all" (if you don't do a search, you can make a multiple selection) in one operation and right click on all the clips, but I am not sure it works every time...
