With more recent versions of RCX (currently use 31 Beta, but the same was with ver. 30) RCX does not read the included RMD file. They are all within the RDC folder (R3D and RMD) but it does not save my color grading - trimming.
I had a few crashes (memory problems) and when I restarted, I had to correct those again from the beginning.
In Preferences "Automatically save RMD Files" is checked.
I notice this only on the more recent versions of RCX. I often have to re-transcode footage I graded before and I was able to read my grading from before. Also the in and out points were saved, which can be very helpful.
I am using Mac Pro with Mountain Lion
Additional Info: the strangest thing is, that some clips RCX can read the RMD (color grading) and applies it when I load the clip.
Could it be that I have overseen a setting in the new releases of RCX?
