Recently I used RCXPro to link Production Audio, Transcode into DNxHD for a feature.
I linked all the production WAV files for every shot with the automatic audio sync, and transcoded all of the R3D footage with my RedRocket.
It worked like a charm. Having the production audio in all my takes while editing was priceless. That was on AVID though... an offline/online workflow.

My Q:
How can I use RCX Audio sync tools, link them to the R3D files and then CUT NATIVELY in Premiere Pro CS6?
So I can have the Native R3D files in PPro with the production audio linked.

I know this doesn't help you out, but I was wondering the exact same thing. You can link the audio in Premiere, but it needs to be done clip by clip...as you know it's so nice in RCX!!!

As far as I know it's not possible right now, but would be amazing to have. I am going to email my Rep to put in that request.

It does sync in RCX, but you can't edit those native R3D files with the synced audio, you have to transcode them to have the audio to with it unfortunately

I have been looking for a solution to this for a while. Seems pretty obvious to me. Don't we all just want to edit in R3D. Now I understand that R3D encoding is only enabled on the cameras but can't we have a workaround where the R3D is just copied with the new audio linked in? Seems like it should be easy.

As attached audio is just basically metadata we put this sync information inside the .RMD alongside the clip. Applications that support .RMD would just have to extend their support to parse the audio specific subsection.

I found a great work around for this issue.

Premiere (PP6) gives you the ability to Merge Clips. I'm not sure what else this would for, but adding separately recorded audio works great.

Import your Native RED files and your Native audio files (wav in my case) into PP6. Right-click on the wav file in the bin and select Modify>Audio. You can set your audio file to be whatever configuration you want, for me, I changed it from 5 channels to 2 and set channels 1 & 2 as audio inputs 3 & 4. You can even create a preset for this. Save that and then command-click the wav file and corresponding RED file. Right-click and select Merge Clips. It will then give you an options prompt. I had synced timecode so I selected timecode. I haven't messed around with in/out settings so I'm not sure if thats as straight forward as it sounds. Then I selected "Use time code from" and make sure the wav is selected. I also chose to replace the Cam audio. You can even decide what the "merged" clip will be called.

Thats about it. You can even delete the separate files out of the project and only have the merged one in there. You can still use the "Source Settings" option to adjust color as well. I am going to look into the in/out settings for merging as it might make non-timecoded footage more easily synced as well.
