  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Trying to understand why this batch of RED One footage looks different in FCPX after grading in RCX. Pretty frustrating and none of my other footage does this.

Still from RCX Pro 30:

Same frame from FCPX 10.1.1:

To clarify, I'm using the RED workflow plugin, and editing with the native R3D. The RMDs read and update as I make color changes but FCPX is doing something to the contrast that it didn't do before.

Thanks,
AC

the alchemy, film, usm, skin settings do not translate over to fcpx....not sure if you used those, but if you did, that is your issue....

Thanks for the tip. I did apply some alchemy to some of these shots (to correct some underexposure issues), but disabling that setting only marginally affects the update in FCPX. The odd contrast is still present. And alchemy wasn't used in three other segments that exhibit the same issues: higher contrast, and pixels that fall of sharply.

I'm perplexed. I've tried everything I can think of, outside of doing full exports. At this point, I have no more time available for that process.
