I have been away on Alexa shows for awhile. Now I am about to start a new Red show and want to put a look in the camera with Redcolor2 and Redgamma2. Those have been around long enough that they should be in the software right? I don't see them in the camera. Can I make a look with RC2/RG2 in RCX and import that into the camera?

Why aren't these the default settings in the camera? Seems crazy to have to change all that in RCX after the fact.

Agreed. Seems to be 101 to me. Make the camera look as good as possible on the set.

nope, still waiting patiently for firmware update to let you do it. they say it's on the list, along with redlogfilm viewing on r1, but not right now. only way is to look at it on your system. I usually shoot a test shot of every set up, and put it through rc2, and rg2 on the computer, and do looks, or show the DP the exposure like that since the new color and gamma effects the exposure curve differently. little flatter, and brings the luminance down a little bit. saturation is lower too.

I am about to do a TV show and they want me to set looks on the camera for the first episode and then that will be the look of the entire show. I am only working the first episode and they don't want to spend money for a DIT past the first episode so they want a good default look set in camera and that will be the look of the show. I guess they are getting RC1/RG1 with some tweeks for their look and more people will complain they don't like the look of Red. Please update the firmware so we can at least use your recommended settings.

Hasn't RC2/RG2 been out for like a year? What's up with that?

Local 600 DIT.

Tell them not to be a bunch of Cheap Bastards.

They Want the Look, they pay the money.

;)

PS: Where is Our IATSE 600 to protect us right now? WTF?

Furthermore, shouldn't a "real show" have a post production supervisor or at least someone running dailies level color who can apply your RC2/RG2 look to every roll before output? Seems pretty straightforward to me?

+1 for RC2 RG2 in camera.

This is probably late in the day and development for the R1 is probably at a snails pace (understandably because of Epic developement...) but it would be awesome if in camera we had RC2 RG2 as the default look and advanced users had the option to load a look from REDcine-X with any one of the Color matrix or Gamma curve combinations, for example - RC2 REDlogfilm, RC REDlogfilm, RC2 RG2, RC RG2, RC2 RG, etc... And what was displayed on the RED LCD or RED EVF would then be a true WYSIWYG of the respective "ADVANCED" look.

All the best,

RG2 and RLF in R1 has been a "comming feature" since last fall.

RG2 is not a year old. Came september/ocober if I remember right. RC2 a couple of weeks later.

Cheers!

and another one for...

and another one for...

+100 for RC2/RG2 in cam please. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to have to explain "RAW" work flow to every peekaboo producer that swings by the on set monitor. Much better for them to just see the best results on the monitor and leave well enough alone and not cluck along causing mayhem and mischief while we are trying to shoot their shots.

PLEASE add this feature to the R1/R1MX family ASAP.
