  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RC Heli Shots?

How much would that flying toy cost? The site doesn't say.

But I bet it needs really badass operator.

We are talking about flyingcam and they are badass operators.

The cam can move up to 80 km/h. They are very modular (I had a project to put XLH-1 HDV camera and it was ok for them).

Call for a quote...

Pat

PS: they 've shot a lot for Harry Portter Scenes.

My idea was to establish a more local option - for my country and others in SE Europe - with trained local operators, etc.

AFAIK, there's no such service around [with RC that is] and Belgium is a bit far. I guess they wouldn't mind travelling to a distant location, of course.

Their demo-reel is impressive. And this flying bug can obviously do a great job - thanks for the link.

On our ExplorairHD and VisionairHD systems (and I'm pretty sure it's the same for FlyingCam and CopterVision) we don't worry too much about focus. The lens is set to infinity and you don't really want to go close ups with this kind of machines if you see what I mean...

I just did 3 days with a canon5d mark2 on a small rc electric chopper..no problems and sick footage. needed almost no stabilization in post.

wish a red could be put up.

We were able to get in some more flight testing this past week on the Red helicam. As usual we had some minor technical issues to work around (power lead obstructed tilt range, etc.) but overall things went very well. The helicopter has no trouble whatsoever carrying the camera and all the necessary accouterments.

We also were able to get some simply amazing shots from the Canon 5D Mark II from one of our smaller electric powered helis.

Hey Obin
Do you have any more info as of what kind of chopper you guys used.
Really interested to hear.
Thanks

Albert

What's the emergency plan if the system fails?

Naturally it is very similar to full size aircraft as a lot depends on how severe the failure is. The primary flight control system has a fully redundant power supply the automatically switches to a back up upon failure. Should a loss of tail rotor control occur, I am very comfortable controlling the helicopter in this situation through practice.

The benefit if 28 years of experience, most of which was spent in top level competition, is that you gain knowledge about how to fly, build, test and maintain a reliable system. Obviously all machines are subject to failure but by operating in a manner that mirrors that of full size aircraft, we have been able to maintain 100% availability of all our systems over the last 3 years flying aerials in some very harsh, difficult environments.

The Skyreel helicopter is truly a work of art. But the the true art of what we do is finding the tools to do the job with the least complication and cost while at the same time providing maximum efficacy. We have put together a variety of systems that get incredible shots and are simple and reliable day after day in very demanding circumstances.

Guys, I design RC Aerial Helicopters for aerial photography, www.AeriCam.com. Current, model is meant for cameras such as EX1, HPX170/200, under 7lb range, but pretty sure can lift close to 11lbs, but of course don't want to stress it. We have been designing couple of Pro video purpose Helicam to have Dual electric motor and dual tail drive. This means we will have much more power to lift a Red Cam and added safty as if one motor fails, the other one can safely hovers down to the ground. Same if one tail rotor fails, the other will have eonough power to control land the helicopter. With new release of Auto pilot coming next year, we hope that the final product will have options of allowing you to fly the camera as oppose to fly the helicopter.
