After 12 months of workflow work-arounds I can finally say a HUUUUGE thank-you to RED for their latest REDCODE plug-in.

If I so wish - I can now have this workflow..
1. Shoot
2. Import into AE and grade using the 'interpret footage' RAW interpreation feature.
3. Render straight from AE a 'ready to go' uncompressed quicktime movie.

For the short-form that makes up the majority of my work, this option of an incredibly simplified workflow is a God-send.

Thanks,

Steve

I am using a Mac and it works great..... I won't be using the FCP workflow anymore with Red footage. I saw this working at NAB and it's great they finally released it.

Yes you can. There are a number of ways but the way we have done it is like this -
1. Edit in FCP
2. Export the edit using automatic duck.
3.This project can then be opened in after effects and will put your fcp edit into an AE timeline. (with tops and tails ,dissolves, speed changes etc)
Up until now we would use red alert to grade and remake the quicktimes to embed the grade but now we just leave that to the RAW interpretation within AE.

cheers,

Steve
