  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Raw footage with sound!

I clicked on those small quicktime files, but all I hear is audio, no video.

The red and green channels are clean. There is some compression noise (basis patterns) in the blue channel. NR on low cleans it up, but it does soften the image. This is a good example where applying NR to one particular channel would be a good idea. Since blue is the channel where compression artifacts are most visible, applying NR to blue only would be great!

I only have Redcine here so I don't have access to the audio. But just out of curiosity what are the audio parameters? I gather it is fixed at 24 bit 48kHz with up to 4 channels. How many audio channels were recorded?

I tried exporting a frame, boosted color a bit in PS. Not sure what the exact skintone is supposed to be, though.

Note to Shawn: The time/date indicates two days after Christmas 1990 ? I do appreciate seeing the R3D, it's the first one posted from build 14 as far as I know.

You got me! For my months of hard work beta/alpha testing their products, and personally funneling them customers and convincing others to keep their reservations, Jim slipped me a beta Burgundy Time Machine.

Or, there is a date/time feature that I am unaware of.

Oh, I like your grade of the shot!

There is no way to set the camera clock? I thought the filename indicated the date, for example my first test clip recorded on Jan. 4 2008 was named A001_C001_080104_001.R3D. I always assumed the third group in the filename shows the date, with format YYMMDD. Maybe it's no big deal, but it would be nice if there was some way to set the camera's internal clock to the correct date for reference purposes.

I looked at the image carefully. Yes, there is some noise in the blue channel but I only see it viewing blue-only. I removed the noise from just the blue channel in PS and compared the original and noise-reduced version. There was no visible difference viewing the RGB image. Makes some sense considering blue is the least important of the R,G,B channels, contributing only 11% to the total intensity.* So maybe important for bluescreen & FX work, but not so critical for "normal" shots.

*in one particular linear-light RGB model, see also http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?Equations.html

I don't have my camera with me but I think it was under setup in menu.
