Ok, so I finally installed the new update and plug-in, and everything is working great, just what I wanted. However, when I pull up the RAW controls, I only get the first half of the parameters I can adjust in RED CINE (missing color channels, curves, etc.). How do I access those extra adjustments?

Also, when adjusting the raw, the look applies to every instance of that clip, which isn't always desired. Is there a way to apply different adjustments to different instances of the same clip?

THANKS! :)

For the first part of your question - and probably the second as well...

You'll still need to use RCX to add curves etc to the files - but since both RCX and FCPX refer to the same RMD file there is no 'Roundtripping' or re-linking. If you open RCX to make changes to curves etc; these changes immediately & automatically show up in FCPX.

However (and this is a huge however) you need to first 'open' your clips in RCX and save an RMD file - painless 2 second ordeal - that both will reference. If you don't… FCPX will create an RMD and RCX won't see it.

Brandon,

Sam from WMM has posted some tutorials on this. Check them out.

Hey guys,

How's it going? Just wanted to let you know I've posted pretty in depth FCPX Red Workflow Tutorials on my site. Here's a list of the Red Centric Ones:

FCPX Red Workflow parts 1 and 2
Using Redcine-X Pro To Grade Your RAW in FCPX
FCP 7 to FCPX Red Workflow parts 1 and 2

You can find them all at:

http://themovieswemake.com/tutorials/

These are less about what the buttons do and more about how everything works and how to get your projects done.

Anyway, hope you guys like them. Got a bunch of other ones about the new release as well (they're all in the same place), but I'm guessing these'll be the ones most interesting to you guys. Anyway, check em out and let me know what you think.

Just a note to those of us who imported without creating an RMD first -

When you do this, Final Cut makes its own RMD in the event library, instead of creating a symbolic link (alias) to the original RMD...

So if you want to make changes to the RMD via Red Cine, you just need to point red cine to the "Original Media" folder within your event - and then you CAN edit your grades and have it update the RMD that FCP X is using.

Good work around -

Brandon -

I too was bummed that the Raw decode is not part of the color tab, and is instead at a "global" level for the file itself - however, after working between Red Cine and FCP X - I know why this is so.

I have not tested this yet, but my plan was to make duplicate clips in the event library and see if it was possible to apply a separate RMD file to that clip -

I too have footage that needs different ISOs at different times within the take...

That works - you just need to keep everything straight, which isn't all that hard.
