Hey I have been using my Raven for about a month now and I have noticed that the sound is super quiet. I know its scratch audio, and not supposed to be good, but has anyone experienced this? I have to crank up the internal pre-amp in camera and then in the editor I have to crank the audio way up to get any sort of sound that I can hear.
(Also, Cuz I know someone will ask, I placed my order through Red on Sept 25th and I got it mid July.)

I've noticed that as well with two different cams and I'm also curious as to why that is? Sorry I don't have a solution for you, but at least you know it's not just your camera..

For scratch audio on the Raven we used a Sony Bluetooth mic (ECM-AW4) arrangement that worked pretty well. We positioned the transmitter close to our interview subject with the receiver plugged into the 3.5mm audio input plug on the I/O expander. It's an inexpensive solution ($160 at B&H) to get some nice scratch audio.

Yeah the pre-amps for the front two internal mics are not very strong. Not sure what else can be done, besides turning them all the way up. I usually place a Sennheiser shotgun into the 3.5mm and point directing at subject, then have the front internal mics turned up and then also use a lav into an external recorder. So then you have 3 channels of audio

Are we talking about the internal mics or recording internally to the Raven using external mics? I've done two jobs with field sound techs sending me a feed from their mixers and their input has been coming in too low. A client has complained about it twice already. Luckily we're having our field sound techs record a backup to their external recorder for optimal sound, but this is annoying and also disconcerting for documentary/corporate setups. Another issue is Red seems to hate Line level input. When the Raven receives line level input the signal is far too strong even when the Pre amp gain is set to 0db (the lowest setting). Why can't there be an option for both mic and line level input like with every other camera out there in the same price range?

ps Ordered my Raven in November and got it mid September
