I plan to use two Ravens for 3D and wonder what is lightest (and cost effective approach) to get sensor sync or at least frame sync between the two cameras. Could use gig-e and master/slave but that requires $4k expander for each $5k brain :( wondering if I can use jet pack on each and deneke SB-3 genlocking both cameras. And if so what happens at high frame rate - project frame rate = genlock frame rate but overclocked frame rate (multiple of project frame rate)?
Tried and tested responses most welcome ;)
land for expansion modules not totally clear to me which support genlock / jam sync.
Thanks!!

I have also ordered two Ravens to shoot a 3D film, would be very interested in sharing setups for this! I ordering through a shop here in Norway, and they have checked av few thing for me. They say it is possible to genlock, but we have to control our lenses manually. I'm looking at 3Dfilmfactorys PRO rig, as we are going to buy all the equipment...

Same here, lets build this Rig together

Found a second hand Genustech Hurricane, so I will go for this. Looks like it works fine on RED cameras. Talked to 3Dfilmfactory also, and they said that I had to go for the PRO or Bullet rig as the Raven is tall camera... Looking at monitor options, and Black Magics HDlink looks like a good option for getting a 3D preview, but not sure which monitor to go for... Would be perfect if we could just get the signal from the HDlink to a RED monitor...
I'm also looking for a solution for a V-lock belt clip that can power both cameras, would be perfekt for gimbal shots... I have a guy that is looking into building a gimbal and a drone that can carry both cameras...
The Ravens are on it's way soon! Excited!

Leaning toward to AJA HI5-3D (portability purposes, P-TAP), however HD link specs looking pretty too (lol).

Great responses - yes let's compare notes
i have some ideas for manual dual control of lens, aperture and intraocular
yeah manual is oldschool, but as in the difference between dual camera control and using genlock with manual start frame pruning - a huge difference in capital expense!!

We are also planning to do some aerial shots in 3D, but it is hard to find a gimbal that works. Looks like we have to build it ourselves... The new Alta8 with an M15 would have been perfect, but it is 5cm too small :( Any other ideas?

what about gravity group buy - it looks like that can handle quite some mass
and planning to use jetpack sdi with gig-e for full sync master / slave

Trying to do sensor sync with the Ravens and a Yellobrik spg1707, but I can only get sync when shooting 25fps or 29,97fps... I guess it doesn't support 50fps, even in 720p mode... Anyone knows?

I have an SB-T and DA if anyone is interested in them for 3D. It's what I used the two together for. I will also include the sync cable from Red. Also have the Hi5 3D available.

If you put the two LCDs next to each other, you can use a 3D viewer. Works really well for quick checks in the field. I used a bar and the two side by side for my little project.
