  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rathbone Energy V-mount batteries?

no, was waiting for my paypal to pass the payment. It's click away now.
I am not to sure what I'll do with them if they don't work.

I'm sure they will work, I'm just not sure if they will work without a dual v-mount adapter like the Broadcast4Batteries.

al,
Just wondering you've heard anything from rathbone. has your order shipped? what turnaround have they given you.

I know on a few forums there is some talk about rathbone. I placed an order with them for 10 new batteries for my actioncam in the beginning of April. They told me a few weeks ago they were delayed. But they had worked out the issue.

Since then I have not been able to get a return call or email from them.

Lisa helped me out with my order and she was great. She just hasn't responded to any communications in almost 3 weeks. I know there are a number of concenerd customers.

I've tried to be optomistic the long it goes the harder it is.

Lisa called me the other day and let me know that they are ready for me to come up there and test a RED with their batteries. The only problem is I still don't have my RED and my friend John doesn't either! So hopefully in the next two weeks a RED will arrive and I will be able to test their batteries.

Hi all,

I've just been reading the Steadicam forum and found this....

I don't want to stir anything up but probably best to be warned a few people are having trouble with Rathbone energy currently.

Really nice work Ben. I was getting ready to send them some money.
Thanks for this post, I'm sure to reconsider until things 'stabilize' or otherwise. No offense, Rathbone1, it just doesn't sound very good.

I have had less than stellar performance from rathbone. PLus the exact same batts they sell are available at about half the price from other vendors. They are just chinese made lions.

Are you saying that you've had less then stellar customer service from them, or bad performance from their batteries? I don't know where you are buying your batteries from, but their prices are the lowest I've ever seen for AB and v-mount batteries. Even B4B, which are a great deal, are more expensive

Matthew.

What others vendors are you thinking of ?

The batts that they recelled for me died in a matter of weeks,, they took forever to do them, gave me a bunch of excuses.

This is just one of several vendors that sells these batts at this price. About half of Rathbones. They are actually great batteries, I have 4 of them and they rock.

Hi Nick

Didn't see anything they offer in V-mount at 160WH or larger.

Hmm, would appear the title of this thread includes the word V-Mount, you think I may have picked up on that. I'm not aware what RB sells as V-mounts, as I use AB.

So, regardless of price, caveat emptor when dealing with Rathbone.

Just to let you all know, I decided not to buy batteries from Rathbone. Due to everything I have read about about the company and how they seem to do business, I cannot in good faith buy from them. If I hear about better business practices in the future, I will gladly support a "local" (local to me) company. Until then, I have gone ahead and ordered my batteries and dual v-mount adapter from batteries4broadcast.com.

Are you using the 150WH batteries?

Are you using the 150WH batteries?

Are you asking about the B4B's or the Rathbone? I have one, and bought 4 more of the B4B's 150 watt batteries. The one I have works great! MyJVC 110U lasts forever on it--much longer then I will last without sleep!

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with Ron Rathbone from Rathbone batteries here in TN. He evidently has had issue after issue with his building, landlord, and AT&T. If you have ordered batteries from him, feel free to give him at call at 865-803-3983. He really wants to make everything right and also make sure that everyone is happy.

Matthew

I just wanted to give everyone an update as to my situation with Rathbone.

I'm happy to say that I finally recieved my order. It looks as though Ron is turing things around and he is able to fill new purchase orders without to much of an issue. Just check with him on the turn around. Any email I've sent over the last month has been answered within 24hrs or less.

Ron seems to be getting a grip on things and has been good to deal with. You still get a life story but product is shipping.

As for rebuilds I think he's still setting up shop in his new building.

So now I have 14 batteries and 3 quad charges I'm selling 4 of them and a charger check my ad. photos will be up shortly. The 4 forsale are from batteries 4 broadcast. And were used on one show for 2 days.

Has anyone yet tried the Rathbone v-mount batteries yet on their RED? I am wondering if they require the dual v-mount like the Batteries4Broadcast batteries do. I am looking at getting two more v-mount batteries soon and am either going to get the RED batteries, or get ones that work without the adapter (or figure out how to add something in the RED battery plate that will let me regulate the power correctly.)

Matthew

Was going to make a post about this but figured I'd rebump this (old) thread. Has anyone dealt with Rathbone recently? Seems like a pretty good deal for batteries; comparable to GMP and the likes but in the US. But on here and the steadicam forum I've seen some negative posts, albeit 3.5 years old - can't find any recent info.
