  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey Guys,

After testing the Raptor for a week. One thing I noticed, which is a huge downside compared with DSMC2, are the pre-record times.

Higher bitrates yes, but faster cards. Also at lower bitrates and resolutions comparable to DSMC2 (6K S35 vs Helium, 5K vs Gemini), the pre-record times are no where near that of DSMC2.

Here is a useful chart I've created for now based off the camera I have tested.

I wonder if this can be improved with firmware or if this is just a limitation???

RAPTOR 8K @ 25fps:
25fps 8K HQ = 2.9secs
25fps 8K MQ = 4.3secs
25fps 8K LQ = 7.2secs
50fps 8K HQ = 1.4secs
50fps 8K MQ = 1.9secs
50fps 8K LQ = 3.4secs
100fps 8K HQ = (Not Possible)
100fps 8K MQ = 1.4secs
100fps 8K LQ = 1.5secs

RAPTOR 6K @ 25fps:
25fps 6K HQ = 5.5secs
25fps 6K MQ = 8secs
25fps 6K LQ = 13.1secs
50fps 6K HQ = 2.5secs
50fps 6K MQ = 3.8secs
50fps 6K LQ = 6.3secs
100fps 6K HQ = 1.4secs
100fps 6K MQ = 1.7secs
100fps 6K LQ = 2.9secs

RAPTOR 5K @ 25fps:
25fps 5K HQ = 8.1secs
25fps 5K MQ = 11.8secs
25fps 5K LQ = 19.1secs
50fps 5K HQ = 3.8secs
50fps 5K MQ = 5.7secs
50fps 5K LQ = 9.3secs
100fps 5K HQ = 1.7secs
100fps 5K MQ = 2.6secs
100fps 5K LQ = 4.4secs

RAPTOR 4K @ 25fps:
25fps 4K HQ = 12.9secs
25fps 4K MQ = 18.6secs
25fps 4K LQ = 30secs
50fps 4K HQ = 6.2secs
50fps 4K MQ = 9.1secs
50fps 4K LQ = 14.8secs
100fps 4K HQ = 2.9secs
100fps 4K MQ = 4.3secs
100fps 4K LQ = 7.2secs
200fps 4K HQ = 1.4secs
200fps 4K MQ = 1.9secs
200fps 4K LQ = 3.4secs

DSMC2 HELIUM:
8K @ 50fps 5,1 = Up to 30secs

DSMC2 GEMINI:
5K @ 120fps = I don't currently have the camera with me, but I consisently use 10 second pre record with no issues.
