Hey All,

So I built a cover for the 9 inch touchscreen a while back, but I haven't put it into production yet with one big question on my mind. I thought I would see what users think here. The cover that I made requires that the 9'' monitor be placed outside the main cover by mounting it on a noga arm or something similar. It seems most users are bolting it directly to the top of the camera due to its size. To work in this scenario, I would need to build a new cover that integrates a permanent 9'' cover. This isn't a big issue for me, but I wanted to find out if you own a 9'' monitor, would you want to buy a $250ish cover for the entire camera/monitor. Or, would you prefer to use the regular cover and place the 9'' monitor on a beefy noga arm when shooting in the rain? The 2nd would allow using the existing cover with any monitor size. The 1st option would be a dedicated 9'' camera cover.

Let me know what you think.

Depends, I suppose on a few things, but probably my preference would be for an all-in-one design, but where does the monitor need to mount? The Epic is so wildly configured in so many different ways, I don't even know where you guys begin deciding on which configuration works best. My 9" monitor is mounted on top, sometimes in the middle on top of a quad module, sometimes at the front, about a six inch travel between the two. What seems nice about this is helping with ventilation and holding a rain cover up and away from the top vents. But that might make it hard to see the screen. A Noga with the 9" screen seems a bit wonky to me, which is why I've stuck with it mounted on camera. Oh, and which way does the monitor have to face? Sometimes it's sideways, sometimes it's backwards. Would be nice to be able to do both if I had a choice, which I suppose casts a vote for a separate cover.

I purchased the other popular rain cover from Ombre, which was very well made, but quickly realized it wouldn't work for my setup, so I sold it. I've stuck with the oversized Hefty bag as my cover of choice for the moment. Have always liked your designs as well as materials used for construction, so I'm looking forward to whatever you create.

Hi Chris,

I have an Ombre cover, but it's very bulky for use as part of a small setup. I'd certainly be interested in something small that could cover the camera and monitor - I use a 5.6' monitor and have it bolted to a rail on the front left side of the body.

I would say, I am in a similar situation.
I prefer a small rain cover just for the camera, side handle, side SSD and a short zoom
(Red 17-50mm for e.g) I use belt clip to power the Scarlet. Separate cover for the 5" redpro would be great that I can mount anywhere I need.

agreed: something to cover the basic package: short zoom/sidehandle/rear mt Brick - then individual covers for the "mobile" bits like viewfdrs and monitors...
