Are you guys seeing the "rainbow effect" on your BOMB EVFs? I guess you do if you know what I'm talking about. I'm very prone to being able to see it. Any single chip DLP set or screen was unwatchable to me when they first started appearing. Just a big colorful blurry mess on motion and when I moved my eyes around. I was a little surprised when I saw it happening in the BOMB. I figure for such an expensive unit it wouldn't be there at all. Maybe it's just me.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? I'm mostly likely not getting one specifically for this reason. Though I suppose B/W mode would be ok.

Yeap, It's still there like in the old RED EVF. That's why i am not getting one either.

(I can't watch DLP projections either) :D

Ok, glad I'm not crazy! LOL! I see it on many other current HD EVFs too.

I guess the technology isn't there yet for high-res EVFs. I don't ever recall this problem on any of my SD cameras, even my HVX-200. Though the resolution on those is much much lower. I guess this falls under the "two steps forward, one step back" problem.

This has to do with flicker fusion threshold in the human eye and is quite variable both from individual to individual, and over time for any given person. If you're tired you'll notice it more. Because your fusion threshold is higher in peripheral than foveal vision you'll also see it more out of the corner of your eye, or when looking around a viewfinder to judge your framing. What you're seeing is a phantom array effect caused by the movement of the flickering object in relation to your persistence of vision. You'll probably also have noticed this on LED illumination of many kinds, including LED brake lights on cars.

As someone who is both cursed and blessed with a very high flicker fusion threshold I can only sympathise - one of the strangest effects I find is that my eyes tend to adjust in sympathy to the flicker such that when I've been watching DLP or using some screens in a dark environment, when I close my eyes I continue to see a 50-60hz flickering overall light level that disappears when I reopen my eyes!

Its worthwhile noting that the lower the intensity level the lower the fusion threshold for any individual, so you could always try reducing the intensity of any device whose flicker annoys you.

Our eyes have a high refresh rate lol! I can also grab flies out of the air, that have something to do with it? LOL!

Just posting to say I have this issue as well. First noticed on a EX1 EVF. Very annoying. My eyes need a firmware upgrade.

I think it would be a heck of an undertaking. Where would it go? It would need to be have some sort of lens relay/prism/beam splitter/rail gun and attatch in place of the lens mount, then you'd mount a lens to it. Would probably be big, bulky and expensive. That said, if anyone can pull it off, my money's on RED!

They don't have to. OLEDs are around the corner.
