I would love to get some R3D's to see how they run on Premiere on both my macs (not optimistic). I have of course seen some threads where downloadable R3D's are advertised but none can be downloaded. Post or PM me. Thanks in advance.

Just a shot with a rack focus.

Mind if I ask why you aren't optimistic? Are they old Macs or copies of Premiere? Have you downloaded the necessary installers for R3D Epic footage?

Premiere 5.5 runs decently on my 5 year old Mac Pro with weak video card. Plays R3D files decently at 1/4 resolution, better at 1/8. Usable for now, but will upgrade computers soon.

Chase:

I'm not optimistic based on the little bit of research I've done. I own a 2008 Macbook Pro 2.4Ghz dual core, 6GB, 500GB 7200, (don't know the video card now) and a Mac Mini 2.0 Ghz, 8GB, 500GB 7200, NVIDIA GeForce 9400. My Premiere is a brand new CS5.5.

If you have any suggestions on tweaking what I have to make it work better that would be superba. I may upgrade one or both to an internal SSD and run video files from an external FW800 or, in the case of the Macbook Pro, via eSata through a card.

I've looked at the RED Adobe installer and it says a Quad Core 3.0Ghz machine is necessary. None of the current Mac Pros have a 3.0Ghz processor. I assume this isn't a hard rule or no one would be using a Mac for this?

EDIT: Downloaded the files from Adobe and followed the replacement procedure for PP5.5. R3D file imports but, when trying to play, it looks like it's struggling to keep up, even at 10% viewing size.

Thank you all for the files.

Thank you very much; I'm certain it will. Struggling now with what a 2008 Macbook Pro will do for me.
