Users of RED Rocket, or ones that know the REDLINE can provide the sharpest debayer/decoding would prefer converting R3D to DPX first, then send them to Color 1.5 for final grading. However, you must noticed the gamma change even you are on Snow Leopard and Color 1.5.
This seems to be because Color 1.5 is still made to think DPX files are 1.8 gamma based. So Color 1.5 bring in DPX made for 2.2 as 1.8, making it look darker. So, you'd have to adjust that with multiplying the master gamma by 0.810810, or adjust the LUT of your video I/O the same way. I have to investigate little further if this adjustment should be only for the looks not for the rendering process. But prior to that, you have to set each clip to display the "printing density" to be "linear 0 Black - 1023 White", because it is read at "film 95 Black 0 - 685 White" instead.
These two thing will match your DPX clips out of REDLINE in Color 1.5.
Good news is that I'm pretty certain that REDLINE is outputting DPX at gamma 2.2 with 0 black 0 1023 white range.
So, if you are using GlueTools, you can set your DPX input setting to "Linear (adjustable W & B Points) with 0 Black - 1023 White) then in QuickTime player and FCP7, the DPX clips would display with the right gamma.
