I'm trying to get my RED footage to playback at 1/2 adaptive resolution in Premiere Pro. I have 2 Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3.2ghz and am looking to get the K5000 and setting up a RAID at read speeds of 1000 to 1500mbs. Would this configuration give me the ability to work at 1/2 res or do I need a Rocket?

Which Xeon CPUs? What video card do you have now? How much RAM do you have?

The K5000 isn't the best card for raw CUDA performance or accelerating Premiere.

R3D playback is mostly CPU-dependent. As long as you eliminate any other potential bottlenecks, you can maximize what you get from the CPUs. As for half-res playback, that's still a tall order, especially if you're talking about 5KFF footage from EPIC. The Rocket does help, but it can't really keep up 100% with that load, you need a good amount of RAM to cache your 1/2 res footage. Rocket or not.

I have 16gb and an old quadro 5600fx. I'd like to know the best card I can get at a mid ranged price. Also should I go with 32gb? The read/write speeds of the hdd array has no bearing?

Thanks for the response.
