Hearing about .R3D support in CS4, I never hear mention of support in the ACR plug-in in Photoshop or Lightroom. Just native support in Premiere and AE. Will we be able to load .R3Ds into Lightroom or ACR just as we would, say, a Canon .CR2? Or would that require direct access to the RAW, which isn't part of the SDK yet?

What I want is to be able to use the RAW adjustment tools that are in Lightroom, either for stills that I pull from a sequence or possibly even for batch processing certain clips. If I were to go through AE, my guess is that I would have to send a TIFF or DPX file or sequence into Lightroom, at which point I wouldn't have the same flexibility as I would with the RAW. Unless they have, or will build in, a Camera Raw function in AE that gives me the same level of control that I have in Lightroom.

If Redcine or Red Alert had as complete a toolset as Lightroom that would be ideal. Native .R3D support in Color, when it is released, will give me this control as well. But I'm just wondering about the ability to put RAW clips directly into PS or Lightroom if desired.

yep

R3D in Lightroom sounds cool, but if i remember well, Lightroom is not a part of the Creative Suite but just linked to Photoshop ?

An R3D importer for Lightroom, that change the raw video stream to stills seems more doable.

A timeline in Lightroom seems a possible update with the new camera and their video recording...
