  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

R3D import in Premiere Pro Sound Missing

I'm not sure this is your problem, but sometimes it doesn't seem like any sound is available on my scratch audio so I increase Audio Gain to +18db, then it is louder but more importantly I can get some waveform spikes to sync audio.

Red cine x doesn't support audio if I'm correct.. Well not on mine anyway

Have you tried using your media browser and adding directly to the timeline in premier? I never import into PP, I dont see the point in it

This is NOT true. RedCine X supports both in-camera audio and double-system sound syncing. I synced and transcoded a TB of double system media yesterday. It worked perfectly. (As it nearly always does.) If your system is not playing back audio, check your setup.

The playback issues the OP describes might be not enough bandwidth from the disk. Try lowering the resolution of the video to allow more bandwidth for the audio.

Thanks David and Owen,

David, thank you for the answer, yes in this case it might be a problem of bandwidth indeed, as lower resolution work better, at least when the track is buffered.. This said, it doesn't explain why the audio track get lost during the import in Premiere...

I can't be much help there. Does the file seem to have audio but no sound plays? Or do the files come in with no audio at all?

If it is the former, it might be a mismatch in sample rate. (I'm assuming you hear other sound in Premiere.) if it's the latter, I think I'd try uninstalling and re-installing. Something's not right with the program.

What version of Premiere are you using? Back around CS5, Premiere did not support audio in r3d files.

EDIT: I see in your OP that you are on CC. That should work.
