Hello,
I shot a Tv Series during 30 days.
The footage is on HDD's... And offloaded on set. Checked on RedcineX and all good.

The Post on the other hand is sending me picts and reports that the footage is in majority off line.
They can't even open on REDCINE X.

They are using El Capitan, and searching here I saw problems with Adobe,El capitan and R3D.

I am out of town, so couldn't test myself yet.

Anyone here have any lead??

This problem is around several shooting days, the situation is alarmant.

Brent, Phill, Jeff??

I'm using R3Ds on El Capitan, no problems.
Maybe you could feed us some more information. Which NLE are they using?

Offline on RCX too... Super weird because when offloading on an old bookpro all apeared online and well.
Super worried here.

OSX has some weird things with external disk permissions and booting drives off the system. There is a utility called MOUNTAIN that might be able to help keep disks mounted.

David

Been on el capitan since beta July last year (which was stupid I know). But haven't had any real problems, with RCX, Adobe CC or FCPX. Both macbook pro and mac pro. The first thing that popped into mind was did they create proxies which were saved on the host computer or other drives. But then reading David's post, there has been a bit or weird behavior so I wouldn't be surprised if he was right.

Thanks David, I will try...

Are your takes, by any chance, too long, like an hour or more long? We had hell of a problem with those super long takes in Resolve and RCX. After loading them all in, we could watch those files just go off line right before out eyes. We ended up using all those takes in only two or three at the time.
OS X Yosemite.

Yes! Like a docu style.

Thanks Jake

Jesus, that is way too long. Who the hell does this? Even 30 minutes is pushing it.

Why should it? Live footage can also be recorded with a RED... ;) . There's no statement anywhere that long takes are considered risky. But of course if an error occurs, the longer the take the worse the outcome. But often there's simply no other way. Always has been always will be. But since the files are being split anyway, shooting long takes with RED should be even safer.
At least I managed to capture long take on live events fine for now.

Raphael, have you filed a support ticket? Or call the bomb squad if it's urgent... Best way to get quick help (next to here)... Haven't had this happen to me. First thing I'd do is the standard stuff of course: reboot, unmount the hard drive - mount it again... Use a different cable (shorter cables often help)
It would be good to know if the harddrive and the files are being seen on the desktop. can they copy files, maybe checksum copy them onto a different drive and try from there. But this is all trial and error work.

Thanks guys. I will be back to town soon and will get my hands on the material.
Will feedback all you here.
Thanks for now!
