Those of you doing RED Data Capture... can you give Pros and Cons of the above applications?

Who is using .R3D Data Manager? Who is using Shotput?

Thanks for any advice with these apps.

We use R3D data manager all the time and we love it:-)
It's constantly evolving (like most red related things) and the guys developing it really do listen to input from their customers. The only drawback is that it is slower than drag and drop copying, but I do get all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that my R3D's have been properly copied.

Thanks for the kind remarks Virgil.

The reason that R3D Data Manger is slower than finder is because it is reading the files 3 separate times - once to generate the checksums, once to copy, and once to read the copied file. Only by reading twice on the source can you detect read errors. We do have a plan for enabling copying via RAM, but it will only read once from the source and therefore will be less safe. The total copy time via RAM will be at least 50% faster then now since it reads once and copies directly from the RAM to each destination (no seek waiting on the Red Media, therefore line speed to your destinations).

And we have a *iPhone* version that we are working on (at least a month away, so dont hold your breath). Go figure that!

You're welcome:-)
I know why it is slower and it really doesn't bother me.
How's the next update coming along? Can't wait for the disk renaming/numbering option. Have a job coming up where I could really use it. I usually do it manually when working with (RED)inexperienced AC's & DP's.
