Ok, it worked fine to start. Had my output, then I was trying to get the menus to all display. I pressed something on the DP6 or R1 (not sure), and now I have no HDMI output to the DP6. Unfortunately, it's my only monitor. I've been reading the manuals for both for about 4 hours, and scouring the boards. I'm a clueless newb!

Any ideas??

Hey Mitchell, I'm fairly new to the R1 and dp6, but I had the same situation when outputting from the SD HDI port, changing from 720p video to dvi menus caused the screen to go blank. Switching back to 720p got the image back, but I haven't been able to get menus displaying on the dp6 yet :(

I plugged it into my tv, and it monitors fine on my TV. It just doesn't want to communicate with the DP6. However, the DP6 is working fine on my DSLR.

Stumped.

Hi! if you are using hd-sdi out please go to the page 89 of the RED user manual. Menus will be supported on HDMI and RED LCD/Viewfinder only if I understand it correctly.

Thank you Scheglov for your reply. I am using HDMI, as the version of the DP6 I have doesn't have HD-SDI.

Ok, other options - change PVW REFRESH, or other monitor options. They should coincide with your monitor settings

How new is the DP6? Does it have the latest firmware? The older DP6's may not have supported the non-standard resolution of Red Menus display.

Hey guys, ran the FW update on the smallhd with no result. Its weird, I can plug my RED into my TV, and it works. I can plug my smallHD into my Nikon DSLR, so each works. Just neither works together.

Thank you again Scheglov, I also tried the PVW refresh. I think the issue is on the smallHD side. What I accidentally hit was the restore defaults on the DP6, and since then I haven't been able to use it on the RED.

Contacted SmallHD. They recommend loading an old firmware, then loading the new firmware. This usually clears up issues.

Still no luck. No signal picked up by the SmallHD DP6 from the RED One. Period. Installed old FW on the DP6 to see if that would work.... installed the new FW back on the DP6. Reset my defaults on the RED One. The cable is good, it works on my TV when connected to RED, the DP6 works when connected to Nikon DSLR. I have changed every conceivable setting under monitor options. Completely clueless.

Mitchell, have you checked what Hertz your running it in. 50 or 60htz for the monitor? That and the sensor settings are the only thing I can think of.

I tried PVW Refresh of both 59.94 and 50. The DP6 native frequency isn't listed in the specs. Nor can I figure out if there is a way to view/change that on the DP6. I'm not sure if there is another setting i'm missing for refresh. Thank you for your reply Roger!

I'm officially giving up. Anyone interested in a SmallHD DP6 with 2 batteries, sunhood, remote, 3 screen protectors? Getting a RED LCD.

it seems that dp6 doesn't support 1280*800 resoltuion..

The DP6 has been used on the R1 for years now. Not sure where you get this info?

Here is the supposed fix to this issue:

a couple other with similar issues but the above link may provide your fix.

Theres plenty of other users, but just did a quick grab of 2 links with issues somewhat related. Apparently there has never been an issue with the menu's with HD-SDI, but issues with HDMI.

Mine also functions, but it is not without its quirks. At worst I've needed to remove the power supply to the monitor (not just turn it off). It also does some strange things when switching between modes (False Colour for instance). I've found either selecting one of the Presets, or switching it on and off - rights it. It's not ideal, which is a shame because the DP6 really is an intuitive little monitor. I haven't run it with a BNC cable yet.

Tried everything from all the threads posted. Some I had seen and tried. I really do appreciate the help guys! Unfortunately no luck at all. I'm currently powering them separately off AC power supplies until my batteries arrive later this week for the R1MX. The kit I received for the DP6 had batteries, so I intended to use the SmallHD batteries, but now I'm wondering if I should get an aux power cable, or dtap to power the smallHD.

Happy New Year!

FIXED!!! Apparently you just have to have the right kind of HDMI cable. I had a few different monster HDMI cables, but only one of them worked. I had tried a couple previously, but not luck. So I stole the one from my TV. They all functioned fine on my other devices. it would be interesting to compile the specs of the HDMI cables that worked.

Thank you everyone for your input. Your help has been greatly appreciated!

That's great news. It would be very helpful for the rest of us if you could determine what was different about the cable that you used successfully.
