Was working on Splinter Unit on this "cop show" here in "Hawaii" today. We wrapped the RED, then wrapped the D21. And then of course, the radio comes alive with, "build the D21 and get to set." We do. Camera won't record. A & B cameras roll - we keep troubleshooting the D21... Not looking good, my first leans to me and says, "get the RED." I quietly go to the truck and build the barest configuration and get to set with camera ready literally in time to hand off to the operator and grab the slate and mark it for take 3.

D21 went back to bed. Everyone was happy.

The End.

(The D21 had performed just fine in the morning and rest of show. It was just a great moment where the RED made everyone happy.)

Well since we usually only hear when it goes the other way, it's nice to bring balance to the negative.

Exactly. It was really nice to hear a lot of way to go's and what not.

I wasn't knocking the D21 by any means. Although, after working with it, the F35 and the D7, my feelings towards digital are quickly falling.

Film is so easy and organic... It's like film is a mac and digital is a PC (IMHO).

Shawn, did you by chance meet Kevin Haggerty, Chris Cavanaugh or Nathan Levine-Healey on set while there? They were doing the splinter unit a few weeks back.

Remember Nathan for sure. I was only on for 2 or 3 days at the end.

LA Splinter unit? We shot like a month or 2 ago.

Not my RED (they imported from LA)

Nathan was the DIT for the pilot. The Splinter Unit consisted of Hilton (operator), Dave Homcy (1st) and myself (2nd). Pilot wrapped a month or so ago though.

Kevin and Chris, not sure about. Maybe 2nd Unit? First unit's operators were Mark Gerasimenko and Marcus Cole...
