He was a remarkable artist and a great friend, taken away from us far too early.

Thank you for all the incredible images you have made over the years Harris, and all that you have taught us, you will be truly missed.

Oh very sad. His work was very inspiring to me in film school, right when The Game was coming out. Brilliant work.

He is one of my favorite all time DP's after I saw Elephant.

I edited a short film that he was DP. This is a huge loss. A nice guy and an amazing talent.

This is a huge loss, Harris was by all accounts the sweetest guy in the business. His films and his evolving philosophy on cinematography were a great inspiration to me. Condolences to his family and friends, RIP Mr. Savides...

Thanks for posting that David. I'm really saddened by his passing. His work (especially with Van Sant) is in my opinion some of the best done in recent times. He will be sorely sorely missed.

Such a big loss to the industry.
Such a iconic and versatile DP.

May he Rest In Peace.

RIP.

Wish I'd had the chance to meet him.

A very impressive body of work. It was getting more and more interesting as well. inspiring work.

I was able to work as a camera assistant for Harris years back and I interviewed him a few times for American Cinematographer... Most notably, for my coverage of The Game... He was extremely knowledgeable and talented, but even more humble and unpretentious... He always strove to simplify as opposed to over complicate his work. I was always impressed what he could do with just one light on a set. It was a great experience working for him and picking his brain for my articles.

RIP

RiP ...another great Artist Upgrading to Paradise.
