Hi All

Can anyone explain why setting 6K, 5K, 4K etc in Weapon affects the mag runtimes of a 4K 4096 x 2160 QT file when recording QT only?

I know it is scaling the sensor to the container but surely the recorded file is finite based on the Prores encoding?

And on the same matter why when setting 4K Prores 422HQ are we getting around 30mins record time remaining when it should be hours on a 512GB mag?

As an example shooting 2K Prores 422HQ on a 512GB Codex Mag on alexa (512GB) give a runtime of 129minutes.

The same settings on Weapon with a 512GB mag give a runtime of 41mins (or bafflingly 58mins in 4K).

Is this a firmware issue or some kind of limitation?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Firmware 6.1.47.

OK so it seems to calculate everything on R3D recording even when set to QT only. I assume this will get updated in firmware.

Currently recording a long QT to see if it goes to negative runtime....

I've wondered myself.
I think it's something to implement.
For now the time is not calculated if you shoot only in ProRes.

Time remaining is being miscalculated when in QuickTime only, however the full capacity of the mag is utilized (as you can see when you view percentage or time with a stopwatch.)

This will be resolved shortly in an upcoming build.

Not only the change of the Resolution affects the runtime, also the compression if you select 22:1 you get more runtime on QT only as if you have 8:1 e.t.c

Dual Recording, R3D Raw Recording 8:1 and ProRes 422 = 1.26 Recording time
Only ProRes 422 = 1.26 Recording time

Dual Recording, R3D Raw Recording 22:1 and ProRes 422 = 1.48 Recording time
Only ProRes 422 = 1.48 Recording time

Time remaining is being miscalculated when in QuickTime only, however the full capacity of the mag is utilized (as you can see when you view percentage or time with a stopwatch.)

thanks man ,
this is what I wanted to hear;)
