Sorry, late to this thread but did I read that the polarity of the XL module is reversed? Red's argument against the D-Tap is that if you use poor quality, off-brand connectors that you can ram the connector in backwards and cause the polarity to be reversed...but their solution is a lemo connector with low amperage breaker and that only goes in one way and guarantees the polarity is reversed?
A good gizmo from Anton Bauer is their Tandem 150 power supply/charger (http://www.antonbauer.com/Products/Tandem150). 150W power supply that will charge a battery simultaneously if the camera load is below 75W (if the load is above 75W it will just power the camera). The system has two pieces, the power supply and then a bridgeplate that sits between the camera and the battery. If you disconnect the power while a battery is attached it will seamlessly jump to battery power, when you connect to shore power again it will seamlessly jump back to AC power. The bridgeplate has two D-tap outputs which then totals three direct D-Tap ports when you add in the port from the gold mount. Lemo's are more rugged but D-taps are cheap so it's easy to have spares and they're very easy to repair in the field. I like that the accessory power comes straight from the power supply (battery or AC) and isn't pulled through the camera and AB batteries (especially the Hytron 140's) are proven to handle heavy loads. I often have the camera built with 2 monitors, Preston FIZ, cinetape and a Bolt wireless transmitter and never had a problem.
