Hi guys,

We’ve just had our Red upgraded to the new MX sensor. For some reason when we play back the quick time proxy files off the red drive using QuickTime player, the footage has a green tinge. Before the upgrade the QT proxies appeared to have all the metadata imbedded. Another thing that we noticed is that the green tinge was the same throughout all the clips on the drive and these included outside shots, interior shots using tungsten lights etc so I don’t think what we are seeing is the RAW footage??

It’s not a major problem for us at the moment because our editors use the RAW files, but it would be nice to get it sorted

Has anyone else had this problem? I’m fairly new to the world of red so it could be something obvious that I’m unaware of but any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

You don't say what software you are using, but it sounds like an old color science problem. You need to go to the support section of red.com and update QT, and download the latest RedcineX. And if you are using Premiere, update that to 5.03. Likewise for all the other edit systems. I don't know the numbers, but update to the latest. Red is a leading-edge (bleeding edge?) camera system. You have to keep the software you use completely up-to-date.

Agreed, if your camera is set to RedColor2 and your proxies can't find it, who knows what may happen.

Most likely you just need to download the latest RED quicktime codec from red.com/support and install it.

Does anyone have the codec itself available separately from RedCine-X anywhere? I just want to be able to view the .mov files that people are posting...

Thanks,
Chris
