Quick Question About Wireless Lavalier ! (Help!)

A while back I had bought this Wireless Lav system for something else. ( http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Synth7Lav )I want to use it in my upcoming films but the receiver is big and bulky and not battery powered or portable.
My question is, Can I buy ANY receiver as long as it is in the same frequency range? Will it pick up the signal? Can you mix and match?


Do you think a transmitter like his would work with what I already have?

I am have a seinhessier lav as well, but they are a different frequency range.

In almost every case, you cannot mix and match.

Different manufacturers will employ different digital conversion methods, companders, perhaps even encryption and frequency hopping.
It's getting more complex all the time with changes to the spectrum allocations and restrictions by the FCC. There is less available space for us to work in and thankfully manufacturers are keeping pace. Future considerations will need to take into account licensed versus unlicensed operation, TVBD's - white space devices - it's best left to experts.

For now, even if you were to find a receiver that would recognize the frequency, the amount of distortion or other problems would be problematic. Best to invest in a matched set that will meet your needs.
