I recently purchased a 2013 Mac pro, 6core, with d700 gpus.
It does everything quite nicely, I just noticed one thing since I started using it.
I do mostly 5K work and have alot of 5K apple prores 24fps 422 files. When I play them in quicktime, it looks as if the framerate is lower, as if its skipping a couple of frames, maybe playing back at what seems to be 18fps, choppy, motion does not look good.
When I play the same files back in FCPX or VLC it looks fine, and even more interesting, I just noticed that as long as VLC remains open, if I play back the same file in quicktime it looks fine.

I would think its something with quicktime not pulling the resources needed to playback the footage fluidly, I don't know. I tested another Mac Pro with D300s and ran fine in quicktime, footage plays on my iMac and MB Pro fine as well.

Could any of you guys with D700s try running 5k 24fps 422 footage in quicktime and see if you notice choppy playback? would be greatly appreciated.
By the way I already ran a restore and did PRAM reset, still getting the issue.

Thank you so much.

Anybody?
I also noticed that when a second display is connected, quicktime runs the footage fine as well.
Thanks again.

I don't have such a computer but I thought maybe there could be a problems with video codecs?
I installed Perian and got a bunch of problems on my mac for example.
