Hey guys I am an owner of Panasonic hvx 200 and hpx 500 and have a small camera rental house.

We are thinking about up grade to RED! and have some questions:

1) If I buy it today how long it will takes to get it at my mailbox?

2) I am not sure if the market that rent my cameras will be able to deal with the 2k and 4k red footage, since I am afraid they actually struggle with the 1080p from Panasonic.

3) We have a RP lens NIKON KIT that we use with our BREVIS and our HVX 200. Do you think we can use it with RED and got a good result? Have anyone tried?

Comments will be really appreciated.

Take care.

Jabour,

Given what we know I don't think you'd get it until mid to late summer. if you wait until after NAB to order you maybe looking at xmas.

dealing with this footage isn't as difficult as you think. you have the option to convert it to anything you want and you can use the proxies to edit and go back and conform for the final piece to finish and colour correct. crimson is available to make that conform easier. the best part of all is this whole process is evolving and will become even easier as other apps start to support the r3d files natively so you're workflow gets easier and its future proofed. thats not something you can say with other formats.

I'm sure the nikon kit will work very well. evin grant has a whole heap of information on nikon lenses under the lens section of the forum. course you can knock the brevis out of the equation so the RED ONE with nikon glass will be easier to deal with. also you have the option of shooting at 2k for longer record times and now you can crank all the way up to 120fps. something you can't get on even the best sony/panny or jvc camera out there

I very much doubt you will ever regret getting this camera and it'll grow on you and with you very fast.
