Any image will fair better with wider apertures in any lens.

Still considering this setup, as the Nikon lens system to me just seems better overall than Canon. I was thinking of running with the Nikon lenses with a top handle, Bomb with the tactical mount, and a redmote, with bricks on the belt pack thing from Red. I would also probably utilize a monopod a lot. Kind of a similar setup to the picture that pops up so frequently of Toia with the big still lens on the front with a monopod and Bomb EVF. I'm primarily an observatory, doc type shooter, highly run and gun. Would this be a good setup for that kind of work? (Right now I use a Sony DSLR with a top mount mic and go totally handheld, I rarely use support of any kind unless I'm doing a sit down interview.)

You can totally use the OptiTron2 EFF for Nikons on Epic and all the issues with focusing, iris control, etc. are gone...
