Some Questions...
1. When will we see Scarlet footage or an R3D?
2. What is super secret feature #21 and what cameras does it apply to?
3. Will there be a price drop on the RED ONE in the near future?

1. We have our hands full. We'll post when we can but there are much more important things to do right now. You'll see footage well before you can buy one. :-)
2. No sayin'
3. No. New RED ONEs are very valuable right now, especially with an M-X sensor. We have more demand now than ever for them.

Will you be making a much lighter weight set of Red Pro Primes one day?
I love the price and the optics, but really wish the lenses were not so heavy.

Thank you Jim for the honest update. I (we?) can wait for a solid Epic rollout. In the meantime, I am thrilled with the MX update. Red One has achieved what I had hoped it would a couple of years back...

Best wishes for the challenges and rewards to come!

Mike

seconding request for RED RAY info, please and thank you.

also, will RocketCine continue to be supported - I really liked that program - I like RED CineX as well, but definitely find them to have different applications - RocketCine is still better for scrubbing through footage quickly.

How soon after the release of Scarlet 2/3 is Scarlet S35 expected to be released?

I'm happy to see the info flowing again, This is all use-able and downstream budget-able (current projects) info that helps me to understand the general roadmap however loose it may be.
Seeing the team you guys had cranking when I was at RED HQ LA makes me understand you guys are not messing around and keeping on track as you can.

Now I just need a Tattoo and we'll be all set...

I'm assuming the bug is in a 'heat/temp warning' possibly, as the body size enlargement must be, in some part, for heat dissipation and maybe some internal re-ordering of components for better dispersal?

Is there any chance at all that Stage 3.5 camera owners will be given a financial incentive to keep their Red One cameras?

Perhaps an option similar to Stage 2, but without the free modules.

I ask, because it would allow many of us to entertain the M-X upgrade without the fear of having to send our R1 cameras in so soon after the sensor upgrade.

Without this possible option, I am not sure that I can justify the M-X upgrade. :undecided:

That would be a shame, based on what I have seen from the new sensor.

Plus, I am getting pretty damn fond of my Red One.

Just a question regarding training on the RED camera systems:

Any chance we'll see film schools offering official RED training and/or support from RED in the future?

I know a lot of film schools out there have the R-1, and I know as far as my school goes it was learning the R1 by the trail and error process, and I'm sure others had it the same way.

Thanks Jim!

Good, cheap, light... pick any two. :-)

We are always looking to improve. But that is not going to happen next week.

oh and...any word yet on whether 18-50mm and 50-150mm lenses will cover 5K? will the 17-50mm lens cover 5K....aaaaand is there any progress on the previously announced RED anamorphic lens set? I would like a set of those....

We're focussing on one application of that type to get it the best we can. What makes RocketCine better for scrubbing for you?

Under consideration...

Can you give us more info on the Red HMI light thing???

We indeed are working on expanding the REDUCATION program into an official curriculum for educational institutions interested in such... that is something that Ted has been working diligently on for the last couple months.

Any consideration for a RAW module for Epic now that portable RAW recorders are 4k capable and have come down in price and size?

We think shooting uncompressed RAW is nonsense... especially if you consider a 2.5:1 REDCODE for EPIC. I'll bet anyone any amount that can tell the difference without looking at the file size.
