Hey guys!
I am looking for a RAID, I honestly do not know too much about a Windows workflow, I hope you can help me (and excuse my probably stupid questions
)
I’m currently using a MacPro late 2013, there might be a chance I’m switching to Windows later this year, depending a little bit on the new Mac-lineup.
What I want to do: edit Proxies (2k proRes LT - probably won’t be a problem, anyways) and Color Grade 8k Raw footage (around 7:1) in DaVinci.
I saw the new Pegasus3 R6 (or R8): some questions come to my mind:
1. For a MacWorkflow (I would use a Tb3 to Tb2 converter for now, and use native Tb3 later): Why should I even bother about Tb3? Red.com states, that 8k RAW footage (2.4:1 and 7:1) is around 150mb/s. So should Tb2 not be completely sufficient? Why would I want to go with Tb 3 (besides the fact, that it is the new standard for some time)?
2. For a windows workflow: I should be able (probably with a graphics card(?) ) to connect it to a Windows machine, right?
3. For a windows workflow: I read a lot about using a internal Raid, or connecting an external Raid to a Graphics card (?) built in internally. What are the differences/advantages of that?
Thanks a lot in advance!!
