Dear RED Team, since now there's no longer a wait-list for the cameras - is it possible to change ownership on a pending reservation? Let's say we are about to pay for the Red One, but we need to change the ownership, so the full one year warranty applies to the new owner? This is unlike changing the ownership of an already delivered camera. And since You have already caught up with back-order - we will not be jumping anyone waiting for a camera...

I would appreciate a prompt reply as we are making final payments arrangements...

Thank You very much for Your understanding...

Kindest Regards

Peter

It sounds like they want to transfer ownership before they actually take delivery so that the warranty would be in the new owners name (instead of the person the order originated with). This way the original owner is not responsible for helping with service requests, or (RED's only other alternative), shipping the camera back to RED and paying a fee to have the warranty put in your name for only 90 days.

Adversely, Peter, if you/they haven't already taken delivery, why not just cancel the order and start a new one in the correct name? I'm sure you have an answer for this - just a thought though.

Best,

P

We have two complications:

One: Our reservation number is relatively low compare to the current shipping numbers - don't want to loose that one...

Two: I have a private entity bankrolling my operation. Since he is going to pay for the camera I wanted to put it in his name - not necessarily as a guaranty, more as feel-good on both sides...

I really hope this is not a problem anymore...

Can't comment about reservation name changes, but... I don't think the lower number is going to mean much. All accessory back-orders, and presumably any future reservations for EPIC, Scarlet, etc., will be filled based on when the camera was shipped, not the serial number.

You are correct, Jeff. With all accessories (aside from the 18-85 early reservation holders) being fulfilled in order of RED ONE delivery date, the serial number is basically sentimental at this point. So, yes, the cleanest path for everyone involved is to cancel the original order and place a new one.

Thanks, BC

PS, I am by no means making light of the emotional attachment to serial numbers.

Thanks for understanding this point... :innocent:

So the answer is...?

I think that the answer Peter is that you might preferebly by a new camera with current Serial number vs. trying to get the earlier Serial number as it means nothing to the effect of what I know you intend to do with your soon to be RED ONE, which is trading it in for an Epic, it seems clear to me that Brent says that since you are taking delivery of your RED ONE now, it makes no difference if the serial number of your new RED ONE is in the low 100's or close to 6,000, as it only counts the delivery date not the serial number.

ciao

It is certainly a different paradigm now that we are off of RED ONE backorder. Let me see if that affects the "transfer of reservation" policy. I think my answer of "cancel the original, buy a new" will stand, but I will run it up the flagpole.
