Hi all

Maybe a little bit off topic; but does anyone have any suggestion on a dutch roll head. I need to turn the picture 90 degrees, with the lens in the center. I would prefer any manual rig.

Yes. Sorry, I want to wheel from 0 degrees to 90.

Lens in the center... there's the rub.

If rotation around the nodal point isn't a dealbreaker, you could use a Tango Head, A Cartoni Dutch Head, or even mount the baseplate at a 90 and turn your tilt axis into a roll if you are comfortable sacrificing the tilt. Evin's right, you could use a 90 degree L plate, also. Does it has to happen live during the shot?

If nodal is a must. Look into Weaver Steadman with the Third Axis, or Cartoni Lambda with the same. Panavision used to have the Panatate rig... not sure if those get used much any more. Or you could use something like a Frazier Lens or A T-Rex lens system that can rotate the aerial image generated by the objective lens. Many remote heads have a 3rd axis that will allow you rotate around the nodal point.

I once bungee cord mounted a super 8 camera inside a spinning drier in a laundrymat. It was close to nodal.

You know - those drier assemblies aren't that heavy.
Plenty of dead driers at the junkyard.

Or just make sure you bring lots of quarters with you to set

But seriously I have a mount which is a 360 degree ball bearing unit with about a 14" inside diameter so probably get a redone on there. It's on a shelf about 20' high so I have to get a ladder to make a photo.

Iirc If you move it quick, you hear the ball bearings if that's a problem.

Hi

I got a Ronford 7 L-head. Great!

Everyone who doesn't dutch is a _ _ _ _ _ _.

I just shot you a dm Michael. I'd love to know more about the 360 degree ball bearing unit.

Wow, there's a thread from the past

I'll try to get a pic later today
