is it not possible to fabricate an OCT 19 to PL mount adaptor so that:

a. we no longer have to mount and dismount (that's kinda risque huh?) an OCT 19 mount from/to the red camera
b. we can then use the OCT 19 lenses on other PL mount systems, like the SI 2k and 2K mini for instance.

I'm sure there is a market for this adaptor. Thanks for your thoughts and inputs....and if any of you want to make one and experiment, I can facilitate both cameras to do such a test.

The problem is the OCT-19 lenses differ greatly from lens model to lens model. After having my set for almost 10 years I've opted to keep them OCT-19 because each one would need a different adapter or machine work in order to make them work. it would be almost less work just to rebarrel the glass.

Offhand, I would say that the back ends of OCT-19 lenses are too large to fit inside of the smaller PL mount at the distance they need to be to focus correctly.

I do offer OCT-19 mounts for the RED for $695.

695? Hmm...i think i'll give you a call to discuss further

Doug answered and his answer is as good as anyone's, 'cause he knows his stuff well. He's 100% in my book. But you may want to also ask Brian Goff this question as well. He's got special tricks up his sleeve all the time, but you may never know about them unless you ask.

My 2¢ worth...

Any oct-19 mounts I have seen are no more intrusive than then nikon mount, so it shouldn't hassle the warranty. However I am by no means an authority on the issue.

I have one of Doug's OCT-19 mounts and it does not void the warranty per what has been said earlier about how much of the original RED stuf you have to take off to mount it.

It bolts on to the same surface the NIKON and PL mount rest on.
