question about Triggering Red wirelessly in aerial filming

As tile , i would like to know how you guys trigger the video to start recording and cut off during aerial filming ?
with DSLR like 5G or GH3 , it has a plug for cables , but i don't know how to do this with Red system .
it sometimes will take up few minute for the multicopter to reach the distance , and before that , all the footages are useless !
anyone ?

I do it using the Redmote. It's the time it takes on the ground that burns the most data.
