Question about the spreader on the OConnor 35L tripod

Hello all!

I have an OConnor 35L tripod without a mid-level or a base spreader. The problem I have is that the 3 tripod legs will not stay parallel to each other (as you can see from the picture below the leg on the left hand side has a slightly less slope than the other two legs). This makes it hard to use the tripod.

Does anyone know if installing a spreader will solve this issue?
