My camera is one of the first of the next batch and Big Jon says in his sticky that "1751-2000 begin shipping in June".

It's just a matter of semantics. Does that mean that we are going to receive the "complete your order" mail in early June or that the cameras will be ready to ship by that date and I will be receiving the email by next week?

A project has come up and we really would appreciate a more precise date.

Why ask in "Unboxing"- call RED up or send an email. If you need the camera "tomorrow" there are dozens of places across the globe you can rent it. If you wanted a really precise date you don't want the RED. :)

it might have been short, but i wouldn't call his answer entirely unfair. RED has made it clear that any dates they give are entirely speculative and estimation. Do not plan for productions if you do not have your camera in hand. If you do indeed NEED a camera tomorrow, then i also suggest renting one.

That said, im in the same boat and sympathize

Contact your bombsquad member. Finalize your order, get the final invoice for payment and send in the money. When the next batch of cameras comes up, RED will ship based on when payments are received, not the serial # of the camera.

As for renting... It sucks, but sometimes you just have to do what's necessary.

Unfair may have been a fast conclusion, but having ordered the Red I do not plan productions shortly after receiving the camera. However I do plan tests, non commercial shootings and of course I will have to satisfy my curiousity...
So I'd like to know when it's likely to arrive. Nothing wrong with that...

it's on display that 1750-2000 is "likely" to ship in June, and 3750 is "likely" to ship in October.
