It appears the best way to attach a Redmote to a flat surface is by using the very rare "V-mount Accessory" ($65 a red.com, $99 at Wooden Camera). This is the same device that lives on the back of the DSMC.

Questions...

1. Red calls it a V-mount Accessory, while WC calls it an A-mount. Which is it? By the way, this is not the same as the IDX-type "V-mount." It is larger/wider.

2. I could find it only at Red and WC. Is it a Red invention? It doesn't appear to be an industry standard.

3. Is there any other source for this item?

As I remember it, RED and that other manufacturer had a legal issue over this piece.
Basically this is a RED piece, which is the same size as the mount on the back of the camera which attaches the modules to the camera. So not for V Mount batteries. The name is misleading.

Hi Patrick. Thanks for the reply to my question. Okay, so the V-Mount thing on the back of the Red DSMC is possibly proprietary. Just another challenge for us Red shooters. I did note there is a 1/4" - 20 thread hole on the bottom of the Redmote, which, thank goodness, is a common attachment option. Danke!

Hehehe. You're welcome.
Yup, I believe it's proprietary - so it'll be tough to find anything like it. You could check out viewfactor or element technica though.
The redmote can attach to the back of any module or the camera where it also charges.
The thread on the bottom is nice to use when mounted to an arm or dangling from your neck :) I use a screw-in-loop like the ones from blackrapid.
