Ever since my first shoot on a Red a few years back, I've been in love with the display (amongst many other things, haha).
One of my favourite tools is "Edge". It just makes focusing so much easier, mostly when shooting close to wide open.
Is there a way to use the display remotely? Is there some kind of device/adapter that would let me send the signal wirelessly to a monitor and still get the same functionality as directly on a red. I'm aware that you can use a cable for that, but is there something that would translate the signal to something like teradek?

Alternatively, is there another display out there with equally as good edge focus assist?

No to wireless red touch.

Check out the small HD 702

You can use the camera's Edge detect on the HDMI or HDSDI outputs. It's a feature in the camera, not the LCD. By default, it is disable on the HDSDI monitor (you need to check the "Tools" checkbox on the monitor config page to enable it).

Yes via HD-SDI and HDMI

Menu -> Setting -> Display -> Monitor Control -> Select HMDI or HD-SDI (which ever port your are using for external monitor (or wireless device) you are using for) -> Mode (selecte Clean)

I am have few 7" Blackmagic Video Assist (Focus peaking indicators) $895

No to wireless red touch.

Thanks, Jake!

I actually have the smallHD 702 Bright and absolutely love it. However it doesn't have the same edge focus tool as the red monitor. I'm talking about that tool that makes everything out of focus black and only the sharp part of the image is visible. Not sure if it's edge or another setting... I just remember loving the function.
That being said, I haven't shot on Red in a while and I never saw those two displays side by side. Who knows, perhaps my memory of it is larger than life.

I have a SW on order and I'm putting the whole kit together in the meantime. I guess I'd have to stick to smallHD and for all the wireless and keep the red touch on camera.

Thanks!
